Typically, we’ll begin with a psychological, health and well-being assessment during a one to one and a half hour intake. I listen very carefully to understand your needs and concerns, symptoms, barriers to feeling well, triggering events and other important details about you.
We will discuss how best to work with each other and I will introduce you to an integrated approach to your care.
The first step in this process is gaining understanding of how your “symptoms” concerns or disturbances affect you as a whole, and how to best approach treatment from an integrated perspective. This is much different then the current trend in healthcare of prescribing a medication based on a 40 or 50 min psychological evaluation of a person’s symptoms, that fit into a “diagnosis”.
We will develop a beginning treatment plan that may include new medications or a change in your current medications, and/or include lifestyle, nutritional, or other prescriptions for healing/wellbeing.
We will collaborate closely with your therapist or medical doctor, if you are currently in treatment.
This Stage is about me getting to know you, you getting to know your “symptoms” through an integrated lens, and the two of us beginning to develop a plan of care that fits you.
