Services
As a holistic practitioner, I view mental health issues as a part of the whole. Mental health is inter-related to a person’s physical, nutritional, emotional, social and spiritual being.
I teach my clients to work with themselves naturally, in combination with psychiatric medications when needed, in order to bring balance, health, wellness, transformation and peak performance into their lives. You are warmly invited to call 401-263-8735 today to find out if a holistic approach to psychiatry is right for you.
Initial Evaluation consists of review of your history, overall health and nutritional assessment, diagnostic assessment of mental health and treatment planning ( which may include prescribing medication, herbs/supplements, lab work as well as non- medication treatments.) It may also involve coordinating care with other clinicians as well as your current medical doctor or therapist if applicable. Together we will develop an individualized plan of care based on your needs and preferences. Resources will be provided to support your healing.

Insurance
Although I do not accept health insurance directly, out-of-network services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
- Do I have mental health insurance benefits for out-of- network-providers who issue me a superbill?
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
- How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician?
Why Self-Pay?
Insurance companies pay for healthcare services only, and therefore I have to diagnose you with a mental disorder and share my diagnosis with your insurance company during the billing process. Depending on your coverage, the insurance company may limit the number of sessions and require me to submit ongoing progress reports and treatment plans to justify the services I am providing. Additionally, many of the “complementary” therapies I offer are not covered by insurance companies because they do not fit into the current “ medical model” of care that insurance companies deem acceptable.
For many of the years of my practice,I have been a provider with insurance companies and ran into many issues with insurance companies refusing to reimburse services. For this reason and because my personal experience with insurance companies does not align with the way I chose to practice today, I have decided to opt out of being a provider who accepts insurance.
In addition to provider issues, many individuals seeking services are uncomfortable with the idea of being diagnosed with a mental disorder, and they may avoid seeking treatment because it doesn’t feel safe, private and confidential. Insurance companies are legally required to keep all of your information strictly confidential, but there are many more people involved in your therapy when insurance companies are involved.
If you choose to pay out of pocket, I am able to offer you a payment plan so that you can receive the long-term benefits of psychotherapy without becoming financially overwhelmed in the short-term. We will discuss your financial situation at our first in-person appointment so that we can decide together how to manage the business aspect of the therapeutic relationship. I have set my fees at a lower rate to accommodate people paying out of pocket and to hopefully reduce the financial burden on my clients. I also offer a siding-scale to those in financial need.
I believe that my services offer tremendous value that persists long after our session ends. My commitment to you extends beyond the session. I am available to those working with me by phone, email and Skype between sessions.
